Unless you mistyped I'm surprised you aren't having more issues... The current update level of Office 2008 is 12.3.nine, so you are several major updates behind. Especially since you're running the software on an OS that'southward 3 generations more current than what it was designed for that's a major discrepancy.

I'd suggest you follow the procedure described here Update Function 2008

In one case the software is fully updated run Deejay Utility to repair permissions again then restart your Mac. If you continue to have a trouble reply in this thread for farther suggestions.

Hi Bob,

thanks for your reply to my question. It was helpful in and so far that I learned how to utilise the Microsoft update feature . There is obviously a difference between the The states an the European marketplace. The latest update I got was 12.three.six.

The problem with Word however nonetheless persists. WORD stops working when I select the drawing-symbols; all other symbols work fine.

This may remedy the situation (I'm bold yous meant View> Toolbars> Cartoon?);

Go to View> Customize Toolbars & Menus
On the Toolbars & Menus folio, click the name of the Drawing toolbar
Click the Reset button
Click OK
Quit Word -- If prompted to relieve changes to Normal.dotm template click OK then see if things are better when you launch the program

The next suspect on the list would be the possibility of font conflict. Follow the procedure described here in club to articulate upwardly whatever that may exist: Font Weeding. When done, Shut Downwardly for a minute or ii, so see if the feature behaves when you next launch the program.

thanks again for your try. Your assumption is absolutely correct.

But, going through your procedure Give-and-take stops reacting already when I effort to select "Drawing" in your pace two.

When going through "Font Weeding" I become the answer "no duplicates found".
